Grading Policy
The students will receive grades in the following areas for my class: tests, quizzes, homework, behavior points, and classwork. Anyone who is found cheating on any assignment will receive a 0 for that assignment and parents will be contacted immediately.
I will accept late homework, up to 1 day late. Late homework will not receive a grade higher than 90. The purpose of homework is to reinforce what we have learned in class that day, so it is important that it is completed the day it is assigned.
I will update the grade book at least every 2 weeks, therefore grades recorded in the grade book, not the actual assignment date. Please consider viewing the graded assignment before sending an email about the posted grade.
Point Break Down
Classwork and Homework……………..5-25 each
Test and Quizzes……………………….. 25-50 each
Projects and Presentations………………..20-100 each
*Students will be given at least 1 week notice of any quiz or test with a review sheet so that they may study in enough time. *
Make-up Policy
I hope that no one misses class, but I realize that sometimes it is unavoidable. I will allow students to make up the work they have missed. It is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed work. I will not remind students that they have make-up work to complete.
Students who attend pullout or sectional will be responsible for any missed work. Students are expected to take tests and quizzes on the same day as the class if they are in the building. .
If a student is absent from class due to illness, they will have time to make up their work. One day absent = one day work extension. In extreme circumstances, I will work both the student and parent to work out a timeline to turn in work.
Classroom Rules
In addition to the school rules, I have classroom rules that are to be followed while in my class. They are as follows:
1. Follow directions the FIRST time they are given
2. Raise your hand to ask a question or speak during class discussion.
3. Stay in your seat unless you have permission to be up.
4. Keep hands/feet and all objects to yourself.
5. No cursing or teasing/bullying.
Basically, Be…. Prompt, Prepared, Polite, and Productive…
If these rules are not followed, there will be consequences, which are as follows:
1. Verbal Warning
2. “Think Sheet” - Will have to be signed by the parent
3. Parent Phone Call
4. Office Referral*
5. Parent Conference
*If the student continues with the behavior in the same class period it could result in an automatic referral (3 strikes and you’re out).
I realize there are times when students will have “slip ups” and break the rules, but I still expect everyone to follow the rules. For students who continually have “slip ups”, we will work together to correct the problem. I expect my students to always use good manners and be respectful even when not in my classroom!
